Mercury in Capricorn and January Forecast for the Signs

Mercury has now joined Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, and the South Node in the sign Capricorn, where they will be as the year - and the decade - changed over from 2019 to 2020.

Winter is about hibernation, focusing in on goals, planning ahead for the new year and preparing for the emergence of spring, but first, we lay the foundation.

While New Years Resolutions have the connotation for being things that we preach and believe, and a set of intentions that we can't often keep, this year it feels different, almost like the changes we want to make are choosing us. And as such, it doesn't feel like a conscious decision about what we want to change or allow in, rather, we are naturally doing the things to invite in those changes, to attract what is needed and ready to come in, and to let go of the things that are ready to go, without much wavering or even talking about it to others. It just is.

foggy railroad tracks

This grounded cardinal earth energy is propelling us into our future and the people that we have been seeing ourselves becoming. We don't need to exert ourselves too much in this process, as much of the groundwork has already been laid down for us, by us, along with our ancestors, and the universe at large. Trust in the process is essential, and faith that we are always supported no matter what seems to be happening externally allows these natural cycles of birth, death, and rebirth to happen without us trying to control any sort of outcome.

In the year ahead we will have more time to dive into this deeper, so for now, let's cover the basics of our individual themes as we all transition together into the year ahead.

Here’s your forecast for each of the signs - don’t forget to check your sun and rising!

Aries

Career changes are a theme for you in 2020, with the courage to take risks and the willingness to see other perspectives being the base from which the rest will stem for you as this new decade begins. Being open to how you perceive other people inspires confidence and good feelings toward you, allowing room for growth and opportunity in the areas where you naturally have talents and gifts to share. This is a year of forgetting what you think you know and unlearning some things in the process. It is nothing to fear, yet it will take a great mustering of your strength to not be distracted by the shiny things and to instead get to the heart of the matter this year.

Taurus

For you, this time comes with bigger picture thinking - getting out of the details and into a more expansive view of the world and of humanity. You are widening your levels of acceptance (while keeping your boundaries), and with this impeccable notion of who you are at your core, you are able to not be swayed or caught up in the minutia of life. Expect miracles to come and know that even when you don't feel your greatest, the wisdom you hold really does help other people. All by you just being you.

Gemini

Providing a greater grasp on your intuition alongside your skills of earning, this year opens up opportunities for marrying passion projects with money - or spiritual gifts with earthly ones. Investing propositions may find their way to you this year, as your trust muscle is being stretched and the degree to which you believe in yourself is being challenged. The north node moves into your sign on May 6, 2020 and the months leading up until then are providing the foundation for the expansion that comes along with that time frame. Only you know what can be right for you. It's a paradox, but learning all you can on an intellectual level isn't much help when it comes to your mission. Sometimes we have to tune out the voices of other people in order to really hear our own.

Cancer

As we are in the last few months of the north node's retrograde transit through the cardinal sign of home, domesticity, nurturance, this past year has placed a great emphasis on your need and desire for boundaries. The skills you have acquired will launch you forward into 2020 where your partnerships, friendships, romantic relationships and business relationships will see the results of the things you have learned and implemented thus far. This time has been (and will continue to be) about pouring all of your love into yourself and letting that love be what overflows to your community and family.

Leo

The recent eclipse and the moments between it and the new year are asking you to slow down just a little. Any time you take for yourself, to rest and recharge, will come back manifold to you. You feel most comfortable in your hustle and flow, so for you the point of growth and expansion comes from taking time for yourself, little moments to yourself each and every day prevent the build up of moments needed and will lessen those moments of intense and sudden urges to break out and be free throughout the year. The more time you take for yourself the less burnout you will feel burnt out you will feel. Whether it's a few minutes to walk in nature, or a solid routine each morning, the moments that you alone share with you will nurture your creative spirit and inner fire.

Virgo

For Virgo suns and Virgo rising signs, this eclipse has likely awakened the creative energy that was lying dormant for a while inside. Everything blooms in its own time, and for you, projects and ways of expressing your true self that you may not have thought about before, are suddenly in your awareness and you feel compelled to do things differently. Trust in the magic of the new beginnings and rely on your resourcefulness to be able to pull it off. Romantic feelings are also being stirred, or will be in the coming year. This year is about being open to the new and different for you.

Libra

Don’t be afraid of seeing things a little differently than you have before, or than other people around you do. If you want to lead, then you can't be afraid to be the first in your community to do things a little differently. Your natural way is to unite people so you will never veer too far from that, but that doesn’t mean you have to follow the path laid out for you, either. This upcoming year will highlight the need for your pioneering spirit to be front and center and to try on the role of what it would feel like to be someone who steps out in front. The best leaders are rooted in love and community, but don't let that need for connection silence their voice and standing up for what is right. You'll know what is right in your heart and this year gives you the courage to do it.

Scorpio

Scorpio and Scorpio risings are being lit up in the 3rd house of communication with siblings. Perhaps there is a sibling you have been estranged from, just because that's how it happens when life happens and we grow up. You may feel called to connect or reconnect with your siblings or those friends who have been like a sister or a brother to you. These relationships are important reflections of who you are because these people know who you have always been and who you are at your core. You are one to see through illusions and it is necessary for that type of deep soul reflection of who you are. Those who know us as we are at our core are the ones to lovingly reflect back to us our true selves, filtering out any ego projections that might be clouding the view. This is necessary and important for growth. Trust the nudges you get to reconnect with those who see the true you.

Sagittarius

You are big and expansive in your thinking as in all ways of life, which may lead to outdoing yourself over doing it in a lot of ways. Still, you seem to be able to quickly find your balance point again and come back to center. This year is less of a year for you to live in your natural extremes, and instead to stretch your comfort zone to include things like making a budget and sticking to it, or committing to something that is deeply important to you and seeing it through. Distractions fall away naturally when you decide to go forward with full force towards what it is you truly want.

Capricorn

Your heart has been opening and softening even more in the past two years. The south node, Pluto, and Saturn have all been transiting through your sign. It has been a time of dredging stuff up that you perhaps would have preferred to have kept brilliantly hidden from your own awareness. But what comes up is only asking for attention, to be healed, and released. And the degree to which you have accepted this during this time is the amount that you will harvest the rewards of such in the year to come. It isn't a race or a competition with anyone but yourself. Your willingness to try new things this year will lay the foundations for growth in leadership you are meant to experience in this lifetime.

Aquarius

Outdated ways of doing things are naturally falling away, and with this comes the grieving process. Even when we lose things that did not bring us joy, not having them anymore can feel like a loss. It's only truly a loss if we didn't learn anything from the experience. Your freedom comes from your ability to let go of attachments - easier said than done. If we hold on to the old, there is little or no room for the new. Imagine holding your palms open, ready to receive what will come and to let go of what is ready to go.

Pisces

Boundaries, but not walls, protect all involved. You are really stepping into your innate power and voice and giving less credence and putting less stock in what others think of you. What is most important is what you think and feel about yourself. What does it feel like to believe that everyone you know is on your side and cheering you on? You don’t always have to feel like you are going against the grain, or that you are battling these things all the time in order to try to keep the peace, internally and externally. The universe is on your side and on its own time and prepare to be shown this in magical ways.
