I’ve been in a little bit of a hole these last few weeks finishing up all of the little details that have gone into my #ouiweimmersion program! It’s my first retreat in which we’re devoting equal time to:

I believe to have a life you love on a radical level, at your core essence YOU have to be fully aligned with what you’re doing in your everyday waking hours. Am I right?! ✧
We opened up our weekend calling in the full moon 🌕, and spent much of today deep diving into our values, beliefs and the thoughts that can swirl us off track. 🌪🧠🌀

I loved having time with Ben and my family & friends over the long holiday weekend, my heart is feeling so full. 💗 Can I just tell y’all: being back in New Orleans so much this past month has opened me up in such a beautiful way — I’ve missed the inspiration I get from this city. 🙏🏼

When I was away at Shaman school earlier this summer (more on that to come!) one of my classmates mentioned that she could see how much I needed more time near water, in nature, connecting to sunshine and the earth — and less time in cities, traffic and high kinetic energy. 〰️🌞🌿

I’m taking that to heart, I already knew that in a big way but it was so reaffirming. I’m a firm believer these days that we should try to live where we feel the most lit up. ✨✨✨

I love the idea of taking time each new moon to truly stop and reset. With this weekend’s Virgo new moon and a fresh month ahead, this reset offers up a chance to really consider how to love on ourselves.

I, personally, was soooo bad at this for a really long time. Subconsciously I punished myself for things way outside of my control and as an empath, when others around me were down, I picked up their energy and spiraled fast. 🌀

When I’m feeling extra down about what’s happening out there, getting outside and grounding more deeply into nature fuels my desire to get back up, and do more for the world... to take action, to tell the stories of places, and people — to help remove the blinders from those that might forget how magnificent Mama Earth (and all of her creatures) is and how important it is to care for her. 🌎💗

I just hung up the phone with a woman preparing to publish her first book. She’s been working on it for a few years and is ready to share her art with the world. ↠
Let’s just think about that for a moment: for many people art happens when, somewhere in the ether an idea is floating around — and if you’re open enough it lands on you and you dream it up or it downloads through you or finds its way into your mind and then into your hands and then somehow that art takes shape and comes to life. 🙏🏼✨

If you’re the person it’s coming through that can be TERRIFYING. I mean, imagine JK Rowling when she was dreaming up her characters, or Frida Kahlo each time she took a brush to canvas — for most artists you have to walk into the fire and towards the fear in order to let that art out. 🔥

The woman I was chatting with this morning, her biggest question was what to do about critics, how to get so confident in what you’re doing that the criticism doesn’t derail you. My experience is that the “no’s” come more often than the “yes’s” but you just have to keep on. 🏃🏼‍♀️✨

During my trip to Calgary I was reminded how important it is for me personally to go out and be with art, experience it, consider the process and pay my respects to those that were/are brave enough to use their creative voice. On my last day I museum and library hopped, sat in the park, read, journaled and brainstormed on new projects.

It’s one of the reasons I love travel the most and am so grateful for this time with @tourismcalgary to re-ignite some of my own creativity. 💗

My travel schedule has been a full on whirlwind — and a beautiful one at that. A few months ago I was invited to apply to a program: #creatorhouseyyc. The idea is for writers, photographers, bloggers, and creators of all types to travel to Alberta to have an itinerary customized to fit their interests (and the interests of their audience, that’s you!). We would each have the opportunity to experience the mountain magic in our own way. 🏔✨🙏🏼

I was accepted into the program (yay!) and I asked that my itinerary focus on mysticism, ancient traditions, wellness and off the beaten path expeditions. 🧘🏼‍♀️🔮🏞

You guys! OMG did @travelalberta & @tourismcalgary deliver. I shared it all on stories from the hike into the mountains for a smudging ceremony to the bear sighting (mama earth magic right there) to the rooftop yoga, the Nordic Spa and the Turkish Hamman treatment. I’ll share more on the blog soon.
