Expressing yourself through the lens of your sun sign.

Following the direction of your rising sign (which will typically move us out of our comfort zone).

In traditional astrology, the part of fortune placement was considered a significant aspect of the natal chart. It is an Arabic point rather than a planet, planetoid, or asteroid (like Chiron); its placement represents where you’re lucky and where your worldly success lies.
The significance of part of fortune is increased when it sits conjunct with (or next to) benefic planets in the same sign and house or if it sits in a sign ruled by a benefic planet. Benefic planets traditionally are Venus and Jupiter. They rule Taurus and Libra (for Venus) and then Sagittarius and Pisces (for Jupiter).
How to Find your Part of Fortune placement
This placement only shows up with some sites that produce rapid and free birth charts, but you can calculate your part of fortune based on your sun, moon, and rising signs.
Part of Fortune In Day Chart:
If your sun sign is in the top hemisphere of your chart, in houses 7 through 12, you have a “day chart” in traditional astrology.
If you have a day chart, then the Part of Fortune equation is: the degree of your Ascendant - Sun + Moon.
Part of Fortune in Night Chart:
If your sun sign is in the lower hemisphere of your chart, in houses 1 through 6, you have a “night chart.”
In a nighttime chart, the Part of Fortune equation is: the degree of your Ascendant + Sun - Moon.
Example:
We use the 360° full circle degrees, so for example, someone with the sun in 19° Leo, moon in 20° Virgo, and 10° Libra rising would have a day chart because their Leo sun is in the 11th house (using the whole sign house system). Using the 0 through 360 degrees system, the sun is at 139°, the moon is at 220°, and the ascendant or rising sign is at 190°.
So the formula to calculate this part of fortune is: 190 - 139 + 220 = 271. Since Capricorn begins at 270°, the part of fortune placement is 1° Capricorn in the 4th house.
There are 30 degrees of each sign, so if we are using whole sign houses (which is most straightforward when calculating the part of fortune), then:
Aries starts at 0°
Taurus starts at 30°
Gemini starts at 60°
Cancer starts at 90°
Leo starts at 120°
Virgo starts at 150°
Libra starts at 180°
Scorpio starts at 210°
Sagittarius starts at 240°
Capricorn starts at 270°
Aquarius starts at 300°
Pisces starts at 330°
The Part of Fortune Placement’s Ruler
When we look at the part of fortune placement, we also want to see where your Part of Fortune placement’s ruler is in your chart.
For instance, if you have Part of Fortune in Virgo, you would look at where Mercury is in your chart for more information on improving your situation. If Mercury is in your 11th house, you need frequent contact with friends and acquaintances and find success through your social networks.
