Oui We Adventures: L.A., Wine Country and Aspen

"woven like the hidden symbols on a treasure map, the path that will point to your final destination"

As I'm starting to settle in for my month in Nashville, I finally spent a little time going back through my photos from my August travels. I spent over half the month on the road, 5 cities over 4 weeks. Boulder, Los Angeles, Paso Robles (wine country), Aspen and then home again. The Boulder Trip was for my birthday and then just 3 days later I jetted back across the country for a little west coast adventure.

4 days in L.A. visiting with some of my favorite friends, soaking up sunshine and the 70 degree weather had me wishing for more time there. Being able to go from hilly terrain to the ocean side in a matter of an hour feels perfect. Ben and I stayed in a sweet little house in the Hollywood Hills, stocked the kitchen and took a little time to relax when we could.

After a few days in L.A. we took a trip on the band tour bus out to wine country. The Vina Robles Amphitheatre at Paso Robles was incredible. A winery and a music venue all in one... I can't think of a better way to spend a day.

Btw, sleeping on a tour bus isn't quite as glam as it sounds.

No showers, highway rumble strips, and if you're me, you'll end up locking yourself in the bunks after too many wines at the winery. That's another story for another day I suppose.

From California I hopped a flight to Aspen for the Aspen Art Fair. Here's another not so glamorous travel moment....

En route to Aspen I experienced my first emergency landing... the plane was rerouted to an ittttttty bittttty airport about 2 hours from Aspen.

I've never been so happy to be on solid ground when that baby landed.

Finally, half a day later in Aspen I was cozied up in the cutest little snow lodge on a breezy summer evening.

I spent the next several days experiencing the Aspen Art Fair, touring the galleries and the museums and enjoying the mountain air.

I'm finding the more I travel the more my style reflects the mood of the place.

I'm packing clothing and accessories that have symbolic meaning - my advice: no matter your style at home – glamour girl, classics lover, minimalist, sporty chic – when you’re on the road allow your mood, whims, fantasies and feelings to drive what you wear.

On the road you can be anyone you want. I find I go between:

Bourgeois Bohemian

Vintage Free Spirit

Gallery Girl on the Weekend

This coming week I'll share my road trip essentials. The T's, the denim, which bags to pack and outwear too... it is basically fall you know! I've got books and records for you too!

Come back for that and have a beautiful Sunday you guys!
