Where the Signs Want to Travel this Holiday Season

Now that the sun has moved into Sagittarius, it joins Venus and Jupiter there, amplifying the excitable, fun-loving energy. It is also expanding our luck, abundance, and optimism!

When Venus, Jupiter and the Sun are all conjunct in Sagittarius it’s a time of expansive opportunities, abundance of love, and a feeling like anything can happen. That kind of optimism doesn’t always mean a trip, but there is an impulse to throw caution to the wind in areas we might usually be more prone to being careful, restrictive, or reserved. We’ll also feel like taking more risks when it comes to love. So, whether that’s romantic love, or love of a physical place (or both), it all boils down to falling deep in love with ourselves and with life.

International travel is a deeply ingrained Sagittarian, but they don’t just want to travel to stay in one spot then leave, they want the whole experience. Street food, multiple stops, meeting interesting people, and starting the party. This season starts a fire within us and stokes the flames of wanderlust more so than usual.

These are the ideal places for each of the signs to travel to this holiday season, based on this conjunction and where the Sun, Jupiter, and Venus lines interact within your day chart. Of course, there are multiple places you could travel to, or if you can’t or don’t want to travel, you can bring some of the elements from these places into your home decor, personal style, or philosophy of life. Learning about different cultures expands the mind, and even just planning a trip to a destination for some time when it is viable in the future has been linked to increased levels of joy.

Aries – Oslo, Norway

Oslo, Norway for the Aries Traveler

A true winter wonderland and the birthplace of skiing, there is much adventure to be found here, likely to excite all you risk-taking Aries natives. You are never one to back down from a challenge, and this challenging terrain and climate is just the place to inspire a new outlook while getting you in the mood for the winter season. After all, you like to have fun in every season, and you are not one to let a little cold stop you. Bonus - This is also the best time of year to see the Aurora Borealis lights!

Taurus – Paris, France

Paris, France for the Taurus Traveler

Taurus, this year for you has really expanded your relationships, so what better way to end the decade than in the city of love? Whether you go with a partner, a friend, or solo, a trip to Paris will certainly have you falling in love with yourself, with food, with everything, with life! As if you need more reason to visit this wonderful city, your sun and Jupiter lines are over this location for the next week or so, of course any time of year is good for Paris. Of course, unless you were already planning a holiday vacation, and you can’t jet off last minute, there are ways to incorporate the vibe of Paris in your home, through your design, your art, and your food. Go out for French food or cook your own and get into the holiday spirit, the Parisian way.

Gemini – Tangier, Morocco

Tangier, Morocco for the Gemini Traveler

Anthony Bourdain famously said of this place that it is “for risk takers and those who are unafraid of the unknown and are looking for a wild trip.” Sounds very Gemini-an to me. Tangier is a city where there is a lot going on all around you and yet at the same time you can feel a sense of calm within the chaos. It straddles the line between Europe and Africa and thus has elements of both. Tangier has been a city of many things over the years, including a haven for businessmen, and source of inspiration for writers like Jack Kerouac and George Orwell. You’ll likely find some inspiration here as well.

Cancer – Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul, Turkey for the Cancer Traveler

As a Cancer, it might be difficult to coax you out of your shell. Luckily, the people in Istanbul are very friendly. So friendly, in fact that you will likely be invited to have dinner with a local family for an authentic experience, especially if you are traveling with a smaller group. The Grand Bazaar has over 4,000 shops with antiques and rugs, so leave some room in your suitcase to bring back those cozy home décor items you won’t find anywhere else. Get your self-care on and get to a Turkish bath, where you’ll be scrubbed down and pampered. You’ll leave rejuvenated and ready to return to your home nest with a whole new perspective.

Leo – Jaipur, India

Jaipur, India for the Leo Traveler

The Pink City aka the Old City aka the Royal City – Jaipur is many things. It’s big and bold and colorful to boot. It’s loud and eclectic and the birthplace of some of the spiciest dishes on Earth. There is an observatory - Jantar Mantar - that was built by the king and houses the largest sundial in the world, along with thousands of other instruments used for studying astronomy, astrology, and the science of outer space. The city used to be owned by royals and is filled with palaces as a result. Leos are considered the kings and queens of the zodiac, so this is quite fitting.

Virgo – Santiago, Chile

Santiago, Chile for the Virgo Traveler

Santiago is pretty much a practically perfect travel destination, all things considered. Virgos will appreciate the efficient underground transportation system and that many people here still ride bikes to get around. So, depending on the pace you want to go at, there are options for everyone. Chile is also known for producing some of the best wines in the world too, so a wine tour here is a must, if that’s your thing. It’s a large city, but not so sprawling that you wouldn’t be able to get to everything on your to-do list in one trip. Chile consistently ranks amongst the top 10 most sustainable countries, while Santiago is often used as a model for a city that can have steady economic growth while taking care of its environment, and that is something Virgos will love learning more about, too.

Libra – Brisbane, Australia

Brisbane, Australia for the Libra Traveler

Brisbane has hot weather and hot people, especially now that it is summer in the southern hemisphere. Surfing is just as popular here as going out on the town. Australia is synonymous with hot weather and hot people, and as a Libra you’ll feel right at home doing just about anything you can here, from relaxing on the beach reading a book, surfing the Gold Coast, or visiting any of Brisbane’s 15 art museums. It’s easy here to strike just the right balance between a modern city and the full beach experience.

Scorpio – Petra, Jordan

Petra, Jordan for the Scorpio Traveler

As a Scorpio who loves secrets and mysteries, you will want to explore all of the perfectly preserved tombs and ruins of ancient civilizations here that date back to 9000 B.C., making it the site of one of the earliest civilizations known to man. Much is still unknown about the area, but there is one thing that’s for sure – these sandstone-carved relics are absolutely breathtaking and worth the trek. The “city” of Petra is the most well-known archaeological site in Jordan but there are many surrounding ones in the area. Of course, caution is to be exercised when venturing from the well-traveled paths, but that excites you, doesn’t it?

Sagittarius – Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires for the Sagittarius Traveler

This is it, Sagittarius, your season! You love adventure and traveling to far off places. Buenos Aires is known for its late-night party scene that lasts into the early morning hours, which is likely right up your alley. You love meeting new people and hanging out in big groups, and this city is just the place to do it. Wherever you go you tend to meet people and have a good time, and this part of the world is lucky for you right now, so whether traveling solo, with a group, or with a mate, you’re sure to have a blast in Argentina, too.

Capricorn – Medellin, Colombia

Medellin, Colombia for the Capricorn Traveler

Capricorns get a rap for being super serious, but those who know them well know they have a goofy, silly side, too. A side that not so many get to see, because the conditions have to be just right for them to show it. Medellin is nicknamed the “City of Eternal Spring” and it has a youthful, playful, vibrant energy that allows guests to just be themselves. It is home to some of the best dancing, adventuring, and coffee anywhere on the planet. Salsa clubs are all over the city and tourists are encouraged to join in. If you are more of a nature person, you don’t even need transportation to see the countryside, just let the Metro gondolas take you by air for a birds’ eye view. Like Capricorns, Colombia also gets a rap that isn’t 100% accurate to them, at least not anymore. Everyone is super friendly here and welcoming to tourists and it is a beautiful, safe, and yet exciting place to visit now.

Aquarius – Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo, Japan for the Aquarius Traveler

Aquarians love to be surrounded by people but also enjoy their alone time, and Tokyo is a surprisingly common place for solo travel. You are still sure to meet a band of fellow travelers and locals, too and live out your Lost in Translation dreams. There is something to do at literally any time of the day or night, and everywhere you go you will see things that can’t be seen anywhere else, eliminating any chance of boredom. The concept of luck is huge in Japanese culture, so what better place to expand your own? Aquarians will love the offbeat eccentricity that Tokyo offers. You can do and see quite literally everything here, from racing Mario Karts through the streets to visiting a robot café there is so much to do and see in this city your senses will be overwhelmed in the best ways possible.

Pisces – Republic of Cyprus

Cyprus for the Pisces Traveler

Cyprus is the perfect island for a Pisces to visit. It’s surrounded by water, and everyone there lives at a much slower pace of life, preferring to go with the flow of what comes up and not glorifying being busy. The mythology of the island includes the birth story of Aphrodite and is known as the “playground of the gods”. People here like to have fun, enjoy life, and take pleasure and pride in the little things, like preparing and feasting on home cooked meals with loved ones and leisurely activities. It is only 148 miles from end to end which means you could potentially explore the whole island in one trip and have lots to see along the way. There is rich history and preserved biodiversity to explore. You can even snorkel and see some fishes!
