Jupiter in Pisces 2021: What it Means for You

The main astrological event for May is Jupiter’s ingress into Pisces. Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces as opposed to Neptune, which is Pisces’ modern ruler. Jupiter expands and optimizes the qualities of the sign that it’s in.

Jupiter in Pisces 2021: What it Means For You

We have been feeling the effects of having Jupiter in Aquarius since December 2020 - getting back on track with many things including technological, space exploration, increased research development and communication, and more balance between being social and humanitarian, along with periods of recharge. And as we are in Taurus season, we are attending to self-care needs as a major priority.

Let’s Get Spiritual

Now with Jupiter in Pisces, there is a re-emphasis on the spiritual and ethereal aspects of life. Jupiter in Pisces can exaggerate the dreamy qualities of life, and this transit amplifies the spiritual, the dreamy, the mystical, and the unseen aspects of life. Jupiter takes about 10 years to flow through the zodiac and usually spends about a year in each sign, so what’s unique about Jupiter’s transit through Aquarius is that we only had five months of it before the planet moves into Pisces on May 13th. We get another five-month dose of Jupiter in Aquarius when it retrogrades back into the water-bearing sign on July 28 and stays there until December 28.

Jupiter in Pisces 2021: What it Means for You

The last time we had Jupiter in Pisces was from January 2010 to January 2011. What were some of the themes of your life during this time? They could be coming back around to see if you still want the same things you did then and if you are aligned with the things you want to have come into your experience. Jupiter in Pisces assists us with getting closure on and letting go of the things we desired that we no longer do to make room for what comes next.

Jupiter in Pisces instills a deep universal and unconditional compassion and values the plight of the underdog. It is a time when we will look again at the world around us with a new understanding. It isn’t super passive, but it can breed escapism - an action we might be inclined to take when we feel overcome with sudden and deep emotions. Jupiter, as the planet of expansion, does amplify whatever it touches. So we can get be overwhelmed by feelings, especially for those who naturally or intentionally do what they can to distract themselves from their feelings.

Because of the wisdom that comes from a more understanding view of the world and where people are coming from, it is a time of increased collaboration between those who hold the same vision.

Stay Attuned to Yourself

It is always a good idea to regularly practice what keeps us each in tune with the changes and developments in our bodies, however strong or subtle. Still, especially while Jupiter is in Pisces, it is slow, methodical, and intentional. This is not Aries or even Taurus energy where there is a sense of urgency or accomplishment, but rather it is the act of tuning in to the body itself that is the goal.

The body has the answers we always seek, but especially during this time, its messages are amplified. Dreams become clearer, more poetic, and easier to remember, and waking life is impacted by integrating the messages of our subconscious.

A good practice during this time is falling asleep with a pillow or bolster positioned under our calves, between the knees and feet. The sign of Pisces rules the feet, and having them elevated releases tension off of the hips, allowing our bodies to work on relaxation. Sometimes we are holding on to a lot of tension without even realizing that we are holding it or where. We can think of this time as a release of that tension if we can be mindful of it first and intentionally let it go.

If we have things we are holding on to that belong to another person (or the world), and we call it altruism to continue to hang on, then this really is the time to become aware of why we have done this and let it go for good. Boundaries between our own stuff and someone else’s can be blurred, and so frequent check-ins and alone time to recharge.

Healthy coping habits are key as well. Jupiter was the traditional ruler of Pisces before Neptune was declared the modern ruler, and we know Jupiter rules Sagittarius. What these signs have in common is a love to travel, so an international getaway during this time could be calling our name. And why not? As long as we can check in with our bodies and hear that full-bodied “YES” in response, it is a good idea to respond in kind.

If This Is Your Jupiter Return:

If this is your Jupiter return, meaning your natal Jupiter is also in Pisces, the Jupiter return period is considered one of the luckiest and most fortunate transits, and it happens about every 10 to 12 years. It is not blind or passive luck, but rather the luck that allows us to focus on other things, rather than trying to manifest specific things. They just come naturally together, freeing up our energy to live in the moment as much as possible and to feel everything going on in the moment while it’s happening.

Jupiter amplifies everything in its path, and the sign of Pisces can tend to be sentimental and emotional, not only about the present but also about the past. Coming back to the current moment as much as possible is a practice that we can cultivate or improve upon during this time.

Jupiter in Pisces is a possibility over precision and sees the wider perspective and potential of a situation, rather than always seeing things as they actually are. This is amazing for dreaming of the future and what could be (and the past, and what could have been), yet it is up to each of us to consciously draw that line where we are realistic and practical while also allowing ourselves to dream big and bring the impossible into our reality.

If you tend to pay more attention to the day-to-day details of life than the big picture, the Jupiter in Pisces transit is a great opportunity for you to step back and zoom out and see things with fresh eyes and an open mind.

Important Jupiter in Pisces Dates and Aspects:

Sun Square Jupiter

May 24 - Sun square Jupiter - Be mindful of oversharing a big dream or life goal before you really believe in it yourself. Outside influence from others can affect our decision-making, whether we realize it at the moment or not.

Believe in yourself and your idea before you share it with others so that they will believe in it, too, and keep working towards it in the meantime.

May 25 to 26 - Moon square Jupiter - With the moon and Jupiter in the signs of its traditional ruling (Sagittarius and Pisces), themes include spontaneous travel and a desire to escape one’s current situation. Spend this transit near a body of water to lighten things up.

June 1 - Moon exact conjunct Jupiter - Anything feels possible, and we can use the emotions that come with this to put great feelings behind what we are calling in. Emotions are big during this transit, as is life itself. Channel that feeling into whatever you’re during in the moment.

Resist any impulses to go on autopilot or check out.

Next year in 2022, during this time, Jupiter will be back in Pisces and will be conjunct with Neptune there, making all conditions lucky and opportune. No our manifestations will not happen before this time, but the big ones can take some time. So just as we do at New Years’, or the start of the astrological calendar year, it is a good idea to look ahead to this time next year when considering what we are calling in the long-term and where and who we want to be a year from now.
