An Interview with Criscara Muse, Andi Eaton
Tell us a bit about you and how you got to where you are.
I grew up in a typical suburban American family and followed a pretty standard life path as I worked my way through college and into my early 20's. Despite earning my way into my "dream job" I needed to find a higher purpose. So, in 2014 I left my corporate job - packing up my camera, a few books and a journal - and booked a one-way trip to the Mediterranean. My intention: to check in and see if there was more to me - a hidden away creative side or some sort of intuitive wisdom I didn't know was there. I was living on the coast of Spain that summer and that's when the idea for my book, and my blog in the format that it's in today really took shape. I didn't necessarily have the most solid plan but I knew what it took to work hard (I'd done that in my corporate role and had moved up quickly) so I decided to take that same approach but working for myself!
Now my job consists of managing my blog, working with clients as a Creative Consultant and presently I'm traveling and teaching workshops and supporting creative development at different retreats around the world!

Is there any special meaning behind the name of your blog, Oui We?
Oui, yes, there sure is! France was the first place I ever visited outside of the US, and I'll never forget the experience of seeing a new place in the world for the first time. So that's got something to do with it. And then, I write my blog with a mission of inspiring other women and girls to find their own self-worth and confidence through travel. So the name loosely translates to YES (Oui), You & Me (We). I truly believe the more women can inspire each other to travel, making it a "we" feeling - the more we can all grow!

Your blog and brand beautifully interweaves travel, style, creativity and holistic practices, all with a bohemian flair. What keeps you inspired and excited?
Oooh, that's a great question. I'm so inspired by the women I meet out in the world going deep into their personal practices. I love meeting local women in the places I travel to and learning from them and even bringing home some of the rituals I learn in that process. With my work today my intention is to inspire young women to get way outside of the four walls they’re familiar with, to get outside of their egoic brain and to expose themselves to new cultures and new ways of thinking and I get inspired meeting people doing that exact thing.
Your latest book, Wanderful, is a storytelling adventure highlighting America's greatest off-the-beaten-path destinations. If you had to choose, what's one place in America you recommend everyone visit?
That's like asking me to pick a favorite child! But really - everyone should visit New Orleans. It's my home, where all of my family is and I miss it everyday that I'm away. The culture, magical feeling in the air, the creativity that's garnered just being out and about in the neighborhoods, and of course the food, music and friendly people - there's just nothing like it! Much of the world’s knowledge of New Orleans is overshadowed by Mardi Gras - however New Orleanians have always known their city holds a much deeper magic. I love that city more than any other place on earth. The architecture and people exude a subtropical Gothic vibe and I’ve filled pages upon pages with recommendations of how to spend time there.
What's coming up next for you that you're most excited about?
I've got a packed travel schedule this winter and spring (Colombia and Mexico are on the list!), but what I'm most excited about is a new creativity and intuition expanding retreat I’m hosting in Joshua Tree in April! It's called Forage & Wander. The retreat will include high vibe workshops, daily wellness experiences (yoga, meditation, hiking and more), nourishing meals and community building.
